Postcard from Ottawa

August 4

Artist Evin Collis’ last stop for ART EXPRESS’D / ART EXPRIMÉ was in Ottawa and it was a great experience!

Nestled deep in Inspiration Village in Ottawa’s Byward market we were quite busy with crowds of people passing through. The weather was superb and we created a giant anthropomorphic cat person out of papier mâché and created dozens and dozens of animations during the workshops. The city was abuzz with the presence of La Machine, a robotic puppet street theatre group from France who were animating a massive spider and dragon throughout the streets of Ottawa over the weekend. There was a great sense of excitement and enthusiasm as participants poured in and out all day adding their flare and hand in the creation of the animations and sculptures.

It was fitting to complete our art making voyage in the nation’s capital in a container village, known as Inspiration Village. We benefited from a consistent great turnout since every day was full of eclectic action as we collaborated with countless locals and tourists who were enjoying the summer in Ottawa.

Thank you to Ottawa 2017 and the great city of Ottawa for hosting us.
